Dating from 1935, this is a vintage Canadian Parker Vacumatic Junior, with the rare transparent crystal barrel and black cap with gold trim. The twin gold rings on the cap is a feature of the Junior model in this range. The celluloid barrel has excellent transparency with little of the normal darkening which affects celluloid
Earlier transparent versions are illustrated in Parker, Shepherd and Zazove's book on the Parker Vacumatic (2008) on page 72. These early versions are imprinted ' Parker Vacuum Filler' or 'Demonstrator Not for Sale' whereas this is possibly a regular production model with a Made in Canada Vacumatic imprint
This production version is also is shown in Cliff Lawrence's '1992 Official PFC Pen Guide' as pen L on page 73
This is fitted with a 14k gold Canadian Vacumatic nib which has some degree of flex. If no pressure is exerted on the nib, it writes with a medium line width of around 0.6mm
This has been used but is in good shape. The barrel imprint is weak but still mainly legible and contains the manufacturing date code of '35' which indicates the third quarter of 1935
This fills from an ink bottle using the lockdown plunger at the end of the barrel. This pen does not take cartridges. We have serviced the pen which includes fitting a new diaphragm to the plunger
