Dating from the late 1930s, this is a boxed Mabie Todd Swan #2 lever filler in green snakeskin with gold trim. The pen measures 12.5cms capped
This is fitted with a 14k gold broad Swan #2 nib which produces a writing line of around 0.8mm
The pen is all original and in excellent condition. The barrel imprints are quite crisp as shown in the photos. The pen's model number is imprinted around the end of the barrel as SM205/84 with the SM signifying Swan Minor; the 205 is the model series and the 84 is the company's code for the green snakeskin colour. Both the nib shell and the back of the feed are imprinted '"Swan" M2'
This has been lightly used and is in excellent overall condition
This fills from an ink bottle using the lever on the side of the barrel and does not take cartridges. We have serviced the pen which includes fitting a new ink sac
Fountain pens from the 1920s and 30s typically have a slightly heavier ink flow than most modern pens, and a supply of decent quality writing paper and blotting paper is recommended
The pen comes complete with the Swan card box and filling instructions as shown in the photos
