This is an English Parker 51 Mk1 Insignia with rolled gold cap and barrel which feature groups of five converging lines. A similar design in the USA was known as the Signet and has groups of three lines
This is fitted with an medium 14k gold nib which produces a writing line of around 0.6mm
The Insignia model is a good choice for anyone looking for a slightly weightier 51 as at 27g, it is some 28% heavier than a Classic or Custom 51 at 21g
Condition wise, this has been well cared for but also quite well used so we've given this a C condition grade for its cosmetic issues. This means we see it as a fully serviced, reliable 51 which will be great as an everyday user. The barrel is ding free but with some superficial scratches and an engraving on the cartouche of 'Ivan 4th July 1960'. The cap has more scratches and some very light dings
In terms of dating, the cap has the simple 'Parker' imprint to the front and the standard '1/10 12ct R.Gold' imprint to the rear. The barrel imprint is 'Made in England 1/10 12ct R.Gold'. The cap has the the earlier cage clutch but the later shorter clip so manufactured in the mid/late 1950s.
Condition C/1m Engraved 'Ivan 4th July 1960' - (Ref 12920)
