The photos above are of the actual pen we are offering for sale here
English Parker 51 Mk1 Custom in teal blue with the rolled gold Custom cap . This is fitted with a 14k gold nib which produces a writing line of around 0.5mm. This is mid way between Parker's standard fine width of 0.4mm and the medium at 0.6mm. For comparison, a modern Lamy steel medium produces this 0.5mm width line
Condition wise, this seems to have seen very little use and is in excellent overall shape with crisp barrel imprints. The cap is very clean with no dents, dings or any signs of plating wear and has a satisfyingly 'factory' fit to the pen which again suggests the pen has seen little action
In terms of dating by its design features, the cap has the simple 'Parker' imprint to the front and the standard '1/10 12ct R.Gold' imprint to the rear. The cap has the the earlier cage clutch but the later shorter clip so mid/late 1950s. The barrel imprint pins this down to 1956 with a '6' manufacturing date code
