This is a boxed set of American Parker 51 Mk1 Classic fountain pen and pencil in grey with steel caps. The pen's fitted with a medium 14k gold nib which produces a writing line of around 0.6mm
The pencil has a propelling mechanism which means that the lead is advanced or withdrawn by rotating the cap. New leads are inserted through the front nozzle. This pencil takes 0.9mm leads
Condition wise, both the pen and pencil show zero signs of having been used. Both caps retain all of the original factory frosted finish The lucite (type of plastic) front shell and barrels are in superb condition. Both the pen and pencil have their original price stickers attached to the clips
Design features such as both caps having the simple 'Parker' imprint to the front and the 'Made in USA' with the Halo logo on the reverse together with the later four prong cap clutch date these to around 1962/63
The set comes with the hardshell Parker box and instruction leaflet shown in the photos. This box was also made in the USA and is Box Design #235
The instruction leaflet is also interesting as it shows not only the regular aerometric 51 but also the short lived cartridge-fill 51. This leaflet is dated 11-63 for November 1963

We have fully serviced this pen which includes disassembling the pen, ultrasonically cleaning all the parts and fitting a new pliglass ink sac. We then reassemble the pen, check ink flow and the smoothness of the nib. We also check and adjust the tightness and positioning of the clip.
This is a Parker 51 with the aerometric filling system. The pen fills from an ink bottle and does not take cartridges
