The photos above are of the actual pen we are offering for sale here
English Parker 51 Classic Mk1 in black with the steel Classic cap.
This is fitted with a 14k gold oblique nib (cut from top right to bottom left) with a writing width varying from 0.5mm to 0.8mm so is probably what Parker would have classified as a medium oblique.
The purpose of an oblique nib is to give variation in line width unlike standard (non stub) fine, medium or broad nibs which produce the same line width (monoline) regardless of which direction the nib is travelling. With this type of oblique nib, the line is thinnest travelling diagonally across the page from bottom left to top right, and thickest running diagonally down the page from top left to bottom right
In terms of condition, this has been well looked after and is in excellent overall condition. Barrel imprints (Parker Made in England) are readable and show up in the photos
This dates from the mid 1950s as the cap has the earlier cage clutch and the simple Parker imprint on the front
Condition B/1m Oblique (Ref 12949)

We have fully serviced this pen which includes disassembling the pen, ultrasonically cleaning all the parts and fitting a new pliglass ink sac. We then reassemble the pen, check ink flow and the smoothness of the nib. We also check and adjust the tightness and positioning of the clip.
This is a Parker 51 with the aerometric filling system. The pen fills from an ink bottle and does not take cartridges
