The photos above are of the actual pen we are offering for sale here
Manufactured in England, this is a Mentmore 46 from the early 1950s in dark burgundy with a white metal cap - known as 'permobrite metal' - and a gold clip
Unusually for Mentmore, the 46 had a type of hooded nib. Both this design element and the slip on cap suggest that this was one of the company's main attempts to produce a model to compete with the Parker 51
This example is fitted with its original fine 14k gold Mentmore nib which produces line of around 0.4mm with light pressure - the nib has some slight flex to it, so the width of the line can vary
Condition wise, this has seen little use and is in good shape with a readable barrel imprint
This is a button filler with a latex rubber ink sac and does not take cartridges
This pen comes with its original card box
Condition B/1f - (Ref 12965)
