Excellent 1952 production English Parker 51 in black with steel classic cap - fitted with a medium 14k gold nib. This comes boxed together with the matching pencil which is the rare 1.18mm propelling design
The 1952 ('2') dating is included on the crisp imprints on the barrels of both the pen and pencil
While the pencil looks superficially like the normal 0.9mm lead clutch design, this is a propelling-repelling mechanism which takes the larger diameter 1.18mm lead. As with the pen, this pencil has the 1952 date code in the barrel imprint. As far as we are aware, this pencil variant was only in production for a short time around 1952
Contained within the box are the original instruction leaflets detailing how to fill 'the NEW Parker "51" the only pen with the aero-metric ink system' and how to operate the 'Parker "51" Propel - Repel Pencil' - see photos
The pen has some early production features such as a metal breather tube and long clip
This fills from an ink bottle and does not take cartridges
Condition A2/1m - (Ref 12657) noting a very small mark under the end of the pen clip (see photo)
