The photos above are of the actual pen we are offering for sale here

Superb English 51 in black with steel cap from 1951

Showing no signs of use, this is an excellent example of English Mk1 with a crisp barrel imprint and original factory frosting on the cap.  Both the barrel date imprint ('1') and the nib imprint ('1951' - see photo) confirm that this was manufactured in 1951. This early date is also shown in the earlier longer clip and the silver breather tube on the feed (see photo)

This is fitted with a 14k gold broad stub nib with a writing width varying from 0.5mm on horizontal lines to 0.8mm vertical strokes. The purpose of a stub nib is to give variation in line width unlike standard (non stub) fine, medium or broad nibs which produce the same line width (monoline) regardless of which direction the nib is travelling.  For comparison, a standard medium gives a line of around 0.6mm while a broad is 0.8mm width

This fills from an ink bottle and does not take cartridges

Condition A2/1 broad stub - (Ref 12843)
