The photos above are of the actual pen we are offering for sale here
This is an English Parker 51 Classic with steel cap in teal blue
This is fitted with a 14k gold fine oblique nib (cut from top right to bottom left) with a writing width varying from 0.3mm to 0.6mm so is what Parker would have classified as a fine>medium oblique. For Parker, 0.6mm was a standard medium and 0.3mm an extra fine
The purpose of an oblique nib is to give variation in line width unlike standard (non stub) fine, medium or broad nibs which produce the same line width (monoline) regardless of which direction the nib is travelling. With this type of oblique nib, the line is thinnest travelling diagonally across the page from bottom left to top right, and thickest running diagonally down the page from top left to bottom right
In terms of condition, this has been carefully looked after and is in excellent overall condition
Date wise, this is probably around 1963-4 as the cap has both the four prong clutch and the halo imprint, but not the later '51' imprint. This pen also has earlier black ended sac protector.
Condition B/1f Oblq - (Ref 12990)

We have fully serviced this pen which includes disassembling the pen, ultrasonically cleaning all the parts and fitting a new pliglass ink sac. We then reassemble the pen, check ink flow and the smoothness of the nib. We also check and adjust the tightness and positioning of the clip.
This is a Parker 51 with the aerometric filling system. The pen fills from an ink bottle and does not take cartridges
