Like most pen companies in the 1930s, De La Rue introduced a range of ink visible pens in 1935 including this 6233 model with the nib end half of the barrel being in an unbreakable transparent material. These also featured the new tapered washer clip with the TDLR logo with a lozenge shape with three arrows below
This particular example is in black veined green pearl marble with rolled gold clip and trim. The pen is 12.8cms long capped
Further information on DLR's development of its transparent model ranges can be found in Steve Hull's 2016 book on Onoto, particularly in chapter 7
This is fitted with a medium 3/ST Onoto 14k gold nib which has some flex
Like most Onoto fountain pens, this is a plunger filler and only fills from an ink bottle
Condition wise, this has seen little use and is in excellent overall condition with crisp barrel and plunger knob imprints.
We have serviced the plunger system and fitted new seals and corks so everything is working well
Condition B/1m
