The photos above are of the actual pen set we are offering for sale here
Produced in Canada, this is a Parker 51 Vacumatic pen and pencil set in cordovan brown with 1/10 14K gold filled caps with the tight parallel vertical line pattern. The pen is fitted with a fine 14k gold nib which produces a writing line of around 0.4mm
51s produced in Canada are significantly less common than those from the USA or UK
Condition wise, neither the pen nor the pencil seem to have seen much use. Caps are very crisp and clean. Lucite parts are in good shape. The barrel imprints on the pen of 'Parker "51' Made in Canada 8' are clear. The '8' represents production in 1948 is also clear although the three dots signifying the first quarter of the year (See Shepherd p162) are quite shallow. The nib is also imprinted Canada 1948, so this is the pen's original nib
Both caps are imprinted 'Parker' on the front with the gold filled content and 'Made in Canada' on the reverse as shown in the photos above
The pencil has the normal propelling mechanism for this period and takes modern 0.9mm leads
The set comes with the Parker "51" box as shown in the photos

We have fully serviced this pen which includes disassembling the pen, ultrasonically cleaning all the parts and fitting a new diaphragm. We then reassemble the pen, check ink flow and the smoothness of the nib. We also check and adjust the tightness and positioning of the clip.
This is a Parker 51 with the vacumatic filling system. The pen fills from an ink bottle and does not take cartridges
