This is a boxed English Parker 51 Mk1 Classic fountain pen and pencil set in grey with a steel cap. The pen's fitted with a medium 14k gold nib which produces a writing line of around 0.6mm
The pencil has the continuous feed clutch type mechanism and is operated by moving the cap up and down. This takes standard modern 0.9mm leads
Condition wise, both the pen and pencil have been well looked and are in good overall shape. Both caps are very clean with no corrosion to the steel. The lucite (type of plastic) parts have the normal surface micro scratches. The pen's barrel imprint ('Made in England 4') and pencil barrel imprint ('Parker "51" Made in England 4') are both still readable with the production date being 1954
Design features such as both caps having the simple 'Parker' imprint to the front; the pen cap having the earlier cage clutch and the earlier longer clip so all agree with this being produced in 1954 as per the date code
The set comes with the hardshell Parker box and instruction leaflet shown in the photos. This design of this box is one used by Parker in the 1950s

We have fully serviced this pen which includes disassembling the pen, ultrasonically cleaning all the parts and fitting a new pliglass ink sac. We then reassemble the pen, check ink flow and the smoothness of the nib. We also check and adjust the tightness and positioning of the clip.
This is a Parker 51 with the aerometric filling system. The pen fills from an ink bottle and does not take cartridges
