Parker 61 vs Parker 65

Apart from an occasional variation in imprint, the only difference between the later (post-capillary filling) Parker 61 and 65 is the nib unit.  On the left, the Parker 61 nib unit is a hooded design similar to the Parker 51 with the addition of gold coloured arrow motif which was held in place by a heat actuated glue. Unfortunately, the plastic was slightly permeable to ink which destroys the glue - hence many arrows fall off.  Later production used an ABS type plastic which solved the problem.

The 65 nib unit - shown on the left - is an open style nib more similar to the VP or 75 design.
